Waxing Survival Guide

What to Expect

So you’ve booked your appointment, yay! Make sure you fill out the consultation form attached to your booking. A few tips before you arrive:

    •    Come in loose, comfy clothes. You’ll need to strip down for the area being waxed, but don’t stress, I’ll guide you the whole way.

    •    Shower before if you can, but no worries if you’re coming straight from work. I’ve got wipes for Brazilian waxing, and every area gets cleaned before we start.

    •    Relax! waxing is quick and done before you know it.

Before Your Appointment

Here’s how to prep for smooth sailing:

    •    Hair length: About ¼ inch (like a grain of rice). Too short and the wax won’t grab; too long, and it can hurt more.

    •    Exfoliate: 24–48 hours before. A gentle scrub or exfoliating gloves work great. Avoid chemical exfoliants right before waxing — save those for after.

    •    Skip retinols: 5–7 days prior, especially for facial waxing. Retinols make your skin more sensitive.

    •    Accutane / isotretinoin: Waxing is a no-go if you’re on these. You need to be at least 12 months off the meds.

    •    Sun exposure: Sunburned or freshly tanned skin is extremely sensitive. Skip waxing until your skin is back to normal.

    •    Other meds: Blood thinners or topical steroids can make skin extra sensitive — check with me if you’re unsure.

Brazilian FAQ

For my Brazilian wax clients:

    •    Bathroom access & wipes: You’ve got both. I’ll guide you into a comfortable position and answer all your questions.

    •    Does it hurt? Yep, a little. But honestly, it’s quick and way less dramatic than you imagine.

    •    Starting your period or pregnancy: Totally fine! It may make the area more sensitive, but waxing is safe. You can always reschedule if you prefer.

    •    Between the cheeks: Yes, a full Brazilian includes that. No, I won’t put you on all fours, and yes, you can relax about normal body things happening during your appointment. 💨 Hemorrhoids? Totally fine and still safe.

    •    Can I skip the butt strip?: Totally your call. Some clients do.

    •    Vaginal discharge: Normal human stuff — I provide wipes before we get started to make you comfortable.

Pro tip: Regular waxing every 4–6 weeks keeps hair finer, growth slower, and sessions easier over time.

Aftercare

The next 24–48 hours:

    •    Avoid hot showers, saunas, swimming pools, intense workouts, and friction.

    •    Wear loose clothing — breathable fabrics are your friend.

    •    Moisturize daily. You can start the same day.

    •    Exfoliate gently 3 days after, 2–3 times per week, to prevent ingrown hairs.

    •    Skip shaving in between waxes — it messes with regrowth and makes your next session less consistent.

Common reactions:

    •    Slight redness, tiny bumps, or mild irritation are normal and usually disappear within 24–48 hours.

    •    Ingrown hairs can happen — exfoliate, don’t pick, and they’ll clear up faster. A combo of physical exfoliation and chemical exfoliation is key for ingrown hairs.

Extra Tips

    •    Stay relaxed and breathe — your comfort matters.

    •    Hydrated skin hurts less — drink water before your session.

    •    Consistency = less pain over time. Regular waxing is easier on your skin and keeps results smooth.

    •    Playlist + humor = best distraction ever.

  • Waxing isn’t scary — with a little prep, some aftercare, and a chill mindset, it’s totally manageable.
