A Quick Guide To Post-Wax Skin Care

A quick skimmable guide to waxing aftercare for those on the go!

Here are my waxing aftercare recommendations to help keep your skin smooth, calm, and supported between appointments:

Daily care

    •    Gently cleanse the area with a mild, non-stripping cleanser

    •    Moisturize daily to keep the skin hydrated and balanced

    •    Wear loose, breathable clothing when possible, especially 24-48 hrs after a wax

Exfoliation routine

    •    Begin exfoliating about 3 days after your wax

    •    Use a gentle manual exfoliant (exfoliating mitt or soft cloth) for light buildup

    •    For stubborn or inflamed ingrowns, use a chemical exfoliant (like salicylic or glycolic acid) 2–3x per week depending on skin sensitivity

Ingrown prevention tips

    •    Do not pick or squeeze ingrowns (this increases inflammation and pigmentation risk)

    •    Keep skin balanced with consistent exfoliation + hydration

    •    If breakouts or bumps persist, reduce physical exfoliation and focus on calming, antibacterial support

What to avoid (first 24–48 hours)

    •    Hot tubs, saunas, or very hot showers

    •    Excessive sweating, intense workouts, sex.

- friction + sweat = irritation. Sweat naturally carries bacteria and can increase the risk of breakouts, irritation or ingrowns.

    •    Direct sun exposure or tanning

    •    Heavy exfoliation or active ingredients right after waxing

  • Tight clothing - loose breathable fabrics are best

Waxing aftercare doesn’t need to be complicated—but it does need to be consistent. The goal is to support your skin barrier, prevent buildup, and allow hair to grow back smoothly without becoming trapped.
